the list of worsts- here I go again !

I HATE BANGALORE (BENGALURU)!!! Yes I just hate this place. I dunno what is sooo good about this place apart from the pleasant climate and the green pouches in the city! The infrastructure is completely lousy. I can't believe why so many people flock to this city and are pleased with it. I mean I just can't understand, what is it that draws people here...gimme some really good reasons.
I agree it produced the most talented people from the IT sector and is known to be called the Silicon Valley of India, but excuse me, I'm just not able to think of anything good here to be addicted (the least).
Just look at the roads, look at the whole city structure, look at the various fly-over here. Look at the traffic! Gosh! I absolutely HATE it. I think the roads and the management here is the worst part to deal with. The endless traffic is another thing... the one-way traffics (OK I do know there are lot many advantages here) are a complete blocks to me. I mean you know, you miss out one area and then you have to take a whole turn somewhere and then come back! How good it would be if that wasn't the case. On the other hand, if it was to be like a normal road without the one-way, I guess you need to imagine the situation it creates taking the account of the kinda traffic here, and the vehicles, the continuous honking to top it all. The rule is - there are not much rules here. The vehicles crunch one behind the other and there are no "gaps to mind" (come from, you know the announcements that pour over in London metro/local/tube alerting the passengers while alighting to "Mind the gap"). Worse still is- there is no lane discipline! Duh! This is not an out burst of anger to express myself here in this way, there are umpteenth number of times I was screaming out of my lungs that I hate this city.
You know, come to think of it, I think even the shopping here is very boring! For someone like me who just loves shopping for whatever reasons, I think its a big bore here. I've never had this elevated shopping experience here but I do like the "Commercial street" for shopping. This particular area reminds of Mumbai's Bandra.
My ultimate shopping place in Mumbai was the "Inorbit Mall" and ofcourse me and my friends mostly frequented Bandra for all junk shopping but we really used get some awesome stuff there :) I really miss Mumbai everyday. There is soo much energy and fun attached to that place. Though Mumbai is under going the most difficult phase right now and infact India is going through the most delicate phase now, I always dream of owning a place there. I wonder if I could ever be able to do just that. My idea is to have this plush apartment in Mumbai :) Well dreams are dreams...we should dream BIG hehe ;)

Alpha Inventions??!!

Hey! Strange to see alphainventions.com visit my blog. Thought of investigating it further by clicking on the site and viola...blogs were displayed randomly one by one giving the status of the bloggers who are online at the same time. I thought that was indeed strange and must have been some kinda spam, but nah, I clicked the link which re-directed me to the wordpress blog which explains the idea behind the www.alphainventions.com seems like it was created to have a one platform for all bloggers for more visibility of their blogs :), ofcourse considering the fact, that the bloggers are visiting www.alphainventions.com. Instant flash of the blogs are displayed as soon as someone updated the blog while you are on that above mentioned site. That sounds cool but I guess I have a li'l suggestion here. I guess the ones who visit the blogs can drop a li'l bit of feedback too :) I guess that would connect people.

One yr completed- the best & the worst (contd)

So you know, there it goes the struggles to explain to someone is one thing and to understand the answer is another! This comes as a big pain if you are unfamiliar with the language and new to the city. The immediate consequence is seen on the hunt for a good maid/servant.

Talking about the maid/servant I shall take the honour of having a complete faith in the Mumbai maids and I very much appreciate them because they truly belong to the faithful clan! Come B’lore, and you get to notice the drastic effect! The maid is one woman who by all means tries to get the most of the house that she works for. The bigger the house, the better are her wage demand... and that’s OK to me but then she comes with some strings attached I guess. Lemme tell ya, there could be literally some strings attached for you  know what…yes, the take away itsy-bitsy items from all corners of the house. I mean just think of it, she comes, she eyes around the place, she monitors whos doing what, she then formulates a “plan” I guess, the ultimate goal here is to get her hands on all the things that appear worthy and wealthy and then disappear one fine day with all of it like a Genie! The catch here in this place is, if someone is worried/bothered or not happy with something, they don’t say it aloud. What they do is, suddenly disappear. Whether it’s the maid or the drivers or anybody for that matter. One day you them and the next you don’t. In any case, if they have some grievances against you, there always is a third person to hear all that…and guess who is that – the watchman! Damn the watchman!

The watchman will not only be the one to secure the surroundings, but also becomes the ultimate negotiator and the one to convey anything across with anybody. He is the representative for the labourers. Sometimes it becomes irritating too when the only thing that you get to hear from such people is the gossip! Yeah he becomes the BIG “gossip passer”… by which I mean, he loves to pass on the gossip. Why do people indulge in senseless small talk ?!!

The other thing here is, people in general are lazy ! Somber, lazy, dumbfound and confused. If we ask anyone for a direction to a place, people so confidently give you the WRONG directions! It amazes me!

If you require some job to be done urgently, it takes all the more longer for some something as simple as fixing a nail.

----mebbe some more of my rants about this place will continue?

One year completed - the best and the worst

It’s been one year in my very first job and also one year in Bangalore. Well a lot of things come to my mind when I think back about the events that have gone by in this last one year. The very reason of coming to Bangalore is the turning point. Since then so many things have been new and so many more things have changed.  Let me talk about the huge changes first.  Notable is our big shift from Mumbai to Bangalore – whole family.  Once the job scenario was settled, the hunt for the stay began.  Though it was difficult to decide, it did not consume much of our time to settle for this beautiful place we found  in Srikanteswara Nagar, Mahalakshmi Layout, Banglore.  This flat is very nice and comfortable for us especially to accommodate all the things that we managed to accumulate within those 14-15 years in Mumbai Smile . Apart from that, it sorta gives a good feeling to stay close-by to our relatives here.  So in an all, the place is settled.

The other change that has impacted us has to be the big purchase of last year – Ford IKON car! Yeah, especially in a city like Bangalore, I think it’s very nice to have your own vehicle and believe me it is really a blessing if you are residing in Bangalore. Now I have very valid reasons and comparisons to support the statement.  There were a lot many times when we were cursing for being here.  One thing that disgusts me here is travelling to any place. Mind you, if you want to reach your home fine, you’ll have to bear the endless honking and traffic. Traffic is the worst part to deal with. Another of the things to be included in my worst list in Bangalore are the autowalas. Okay, here let me give you the picture….4-5 autowalas will be gathered at one place. Now I guess these people are very sophisticated…they just dig into the newspaper and then discuss among the peers…and the discussion never ends I suppose coz when you approach them at that time, they either do not bother or respond or simply REFUSE to take to the place. I don’t understand the logic of this at all… the autos are there to serve the people, I mean its their duty …but nah I guess they are the least bothered about their business sense! This eventually makes me think that people here DO NOT have any business sense.  I hope someone new here doesn’t get stuck somewhere only to stand and wait for an auto to take you to your destination at night time (might I say for the usual charge) since your expectations are bound to be diminished – the charges are atrocious!!!

The other in my worst list – Due to the language gap, the shop keepers don’t understand what you talk and even if they understand they pretend they didn’t. If they understand it, then they you might also be well prepared to hear their explanation/excuses  in “Kannada”!!!  Phew!

to be contd....

Mumbai meri jaan!!

Stepped in Mumbai on 3rd Oct 1993. Fourteen years in Mumbai completed now. Feels great to be associated with Mumbai. This place has its own charm.
I rem'ber the time we moved into the flat in Mumbai. A small 2BHK flat compared to the places we stayed before. The house was bare. No furniture, no utensils. Our furniture didn't arrive on time due to some inevitable reasons. New house, new neighbours. Neighbours, they were friendly. First few days was just getting used to the home and surroundings. Back then I didn't know a word in Hindi. So for me, speaking to someone was a difficult task. Then began the school problems. Just within 2-3 days of my joining the school. The school had half-yearly exams. Don't ask me how I fared...well you can imagine! Everybody here spoke Hindi and I was the only one in my class who couldn't understand (spare the speaking) Hindi well. I rem'ber the difficulties while studying the subject Social studies in the school coz here it was in Hindi while I did it in English. I had a hard time trying to understand what our teacher was teaching. The only subjects I was good at were: Science, English n Maths then. Believe me I had a very tough time trying to understand and speak Hindi and then as expected I was one of those who had a very poor score in the results. I was right at the bottom. Well, that was in my fourth standard. And within a year I picked up Hindi very well. I was in top 10 in my class. I spoke in Hindi with everyone. That was the time when Sushmita Sen and Aishwarya Rai has been crowned Miss Universe and Miss World respectively. So I was also part of discussions that used to happen in the class regarding those trivial matters...lol

Life moved on. Things were looking good. There was no looking back. Finished my schooling- 10th n 12th from CBSE board. Then college life. Had fun in college. Finished with my PG this year.

Now leaving Mumbai behind :( ...feeling really sad now. :( :(
